Happy times

I have some happy memories of my time at Queen Marys in 1953 . I remember the day we had a grand fete, it was a warm sunny day and all the patients were there whether in wheelchairs beds or iron lungs, they were pushed there and those of us who could walk did so. Billy Cotton and Cal McCord on his horse were there and we all had a lovely day.
1953 was the year of the queens corination and a television was brought into the ward so we could watch it. It was the first time I had seen television.
There were two young men from the Path. Lab. who came and took our blood samples for testing and all us girls had a crush on them. They wrote us a long poem for each of us to put in our autograph books, then they signed it.Their names were Roy Sandys and C Frankcombe.
Some gentlemen from a local church came on Friday evenings and we sang hymns and choruses, their names were Mr L Hill, Mr J Bates and Mr R Giles. Some of the nurses and other patients names that are in my autograph book are. nurse Matthews, S Sutherland, Ann Foster, A Godlement, G Putnin, Pat Tickner and dear staff nurse Marr. Patients Pamela French, June Katnic, Pauline Bagwell, Pauline Williamson, Margaret Rush, Daisy Barnet and Hazel Jones. Does anyone else remember any of these people?
