I was in hostital for 10 months (in 1951 I think) with a hip disease (perthus I think it was called). Not sure on the ward, but the doctor was Metcalf.
I can remember a quadrangle with the beds bought outside in the good weather. Round the corner was an old air raid shelter, where the 'bogie men' were (I was only 5 years old)
I used to hide bacon rinds under the pillow because I couldn't eat them......
I can remember having a highly coloured wooden parrot that swung on a perch.
