I have some happy memories of my time at Queen Marys in 1953 . I remember the day we had a grand fete, it was a warm sunny day and all the patients were there whether in wheelchairs beds or iron lungs, they were pushed there and those of us who could walk did so. Billy Cotton and Cal McCord on his horse were there and we all had a lovely day.
1953 was the year of the queens corination and a television was brought into the ward so we could watch it. It was the first time I had seen television.
I was a patient Queen Marys in 1953 May 4th to end of Aug. I was in ward D9, I was twelve at the time though most of the other girls were fourteen to fifteen.
I made some good friends there and have many happy memories of that time. I still have my autograph book with all the girls and nurses messages in! I kept in contact with June Katnic for several years but lost touch.
Would love to get in contact again with her or others who were there at that time.
